This was one of the easiest 60 km days I’ve ever had the pleasure to ride. It was mostly flat until about 5k before I reached Eugowra, when the road went over a low range. Unbelievably it went through the lowest point! I’ve been so used to roads and tracks following a spur that takes you over the highest point possible that this was a pleasant surprise.<\/p>\n

In Eugowra I had my smoko break, having coffee and a great fruit salad at the local cafe. Regretfully I discovered I had lost one of Crocs! Somehow the bungee strapping let go on one side of the trailer, possibly because the volume of stuff in carrying is slowly diminishing and the strapping can be a bit loose. Does anyone need a size 9 black left Croc?<\/p>\n

It’s annoying to be without my water shoes (also dress shoes!), but I’m done crossing creeks and rivers, so a pair of flip flops would be sufficient, except they weren’t available in Eugowra, nor in Gooloogong. On a more positive note, I found a multi tool on the side of the road, a real Leatherman, a bit rusty but still functional, even with one or two little bits broken off.<\/p>\n

On to Gooloogong was more flat country. This little community sports a free camping area with a kitchen shelter (rather dusty and a bit grungy), and toilets and even showers. Quite acceptable and certainly very generous of the people in this community.<\/p>\n

The pub is a nice place to spend some time, but oh man are they ever SLOW! A simple order of garlic toast took about 45 minutes, and not as if there were a lot of people there either. After I finished there was a mob of about 200 motor cycles that descended upon the little pub. Quite a spectacle, but I don’t envy the line ups! Anyway, I’ll be back there for “tea”, after the mob has dispersed again.<\/p>\n
