I didn’t really follow the BNT route to Tharwa, although portions of my route were. I stayed on bicycle pathways, never once being on any roads that I had to share with traffic, until 5k before Tharwa.<\/p>\n

I briefly stopped in Tuggeranong for coffee and a muffin, neither being a great success unfortunately.<\/p>\n

Another coffee in Tharwa which was even worse. I thought I’d stay at the picnic area by the bridge, but the toilets wouldn’t flush and it’s a bit of a walk to the river. So back to the store to pick up a pie and a can of beer and on to the Tharwa Sandwash off Smith Road. I’m so glad I did, it’s a beautiful site!<\/p>\n

Technically no camping allowed, but it’s right by the Murrumbidgee River and there are even a couple of picnic tables. Also a nice set of steps down to the water. This might even be the official BNT camp area, although I’m not a 100% sure. There was a sign along the road pointing this direction but nothing else to identify it as such. Nobody else around, bonus.<\/p>\n
