Mingela

Wednesday, 28 Nov 2018

Left Charters early and got to Mingela shortly after 9. Easy riding along not overly busy Flinders Hwy. Although still early it’s already almost 40º, so I’ll stay put for the rest is the day. Ravenswood is only 40-ish kms, so it’ll be another easy day tomorrow.

Mingela Pub is still here, a bit (or a lot) more run down yet, but still the same owner, Ivan, who is originally from NZ. The inside of the pub looks surprisingly nice, and Ivan and his wife Moana are terrific people! They opened 45 minutes after I got here, so time for Solo and VB! They now have a couple of trailers in the back, one with accommodations and one with showers and toilets. I’m camping under a low shade tree for a $10 fee. Although the weather forecast calls for a bit cooler temps later this week, Ivan claims that it will heat up again right after that. I guess I’ll just have to limit myself to just 40k or so and laze away the days. I don’t want to ride at night, which is a perfect way to beat the heat, but you don’t see nothin’!

Total 52k, 270m of uphill stretches (just gentle ups and downs)
