I slept in, it was almost 6:30 when Mushgang called out if I was ready for a cup of tea. After brekkie we said our farewells and I took off. Another wonderful warm experience with a fellow BNT trekker. It was great to see eachother again after 15 years.

The road initially climbed a bit, until I got to the “Snowies”, then it was more down than uphill.

I should mention that I’m doing a detour off the BNT again. The trail descends from Ebor into the Macleay River Valley and I rode that 20 years ago. It was stunning, but I know my limitations and feel I cannot cope with the endless river crossings and steep climb out of the valley this time. So detour it is.
I arrived at the camping area at 11:00, or rather at the picnic and day use area where you supposedly are not allowed to camp, but where the picnic tables and shelters are. So, guess what.

Hard to catch this grandeur in a picture!

Had a nice visit with Cole and Carol, a couple from Perth who are camping in Armidale and who I’ll probably see again at the showgrounds there tomorrow.
