Ebor

Tuesday 5 Feb 2019

A bit later start, I didn’t set the alarm thinking the Kookaburras and other noisy birds would waken me smartly, but for a change they didn’t.

Not only was my really very nice and comfortable campsite farther east than where the trail goes, it was also very much lower in altitude. Today would have been a pretty level day, but now it was a lot of uphill. On a paved road, mind you, so manageable. About ½ way up I Whatsapp-ed Gwen and Mushgang to let him know I was coming, a day earlier then I had told him earlier. And I couldn’t be more surprised when only about 10 minutes later somebody standing by a vehicle parked beside the road was taking pictures of me. Yes, Mushgang! I met him again at his house on the edge of Ebor about two hours later. He has a beautiful big shed and lives himself in a little trailer, very simple, but it’s all he needs and wants. It’s away from the traffic and he told me I could stay there if I wanted, so I’m set up inside the shed, out of the wind.

We went for coffee at the local cafe, visited the gorgeous Ebor Falls, had a quick drink at the pub and in the evening we had a delicious steak dinner prepared by Mushgang.
