Almost but not quite as perfect as yesterday. A leisurely start with breakfast at the bakery, which is even open on Sundays, then the first section of rail trail to Linville, which was absolutely very nice. Indeed mostly all downhill and a long stretch hugging the hill sides following the valley. And with interesting explanatory signs with bits of information.

The hotel/pub in Linville that had been mentioned to me many times was of course not yet open at 9:30, but the little store next to it was.

The next section to Moore wasn’t great, it was mostly make belief rail trail, the grades were too steep and the curves too tight for an old rail line, and more swing gates again.

Moore to Harlin is the newest section which was only just finished last year. It is now a freshly graveled road, not overly charming, but of course no traffic and that is one of the great advantages of these rail trails. It did cross Emu Creek at a beautiful waterhole where I had a swim and contemplated camping, but another hotel/pub in Harlin was too much of a temptation.

Camp is just at the rest stop across the road from hotel and petrol station, right by the road, but nicely shaded.

Fettlers were the people that worked on building the rail line, they usually lived in simple tents on site.
You’ll have to explain to me more fully just what “fettlers” are??????
