Well that wasn’t so tough, the first one-third of the way was level, then it started to climb, but the maximum grade was 5%, occasionally 6%. Even I can manage that! And I had a solid bacon and egg breakfast before I headed out, so totally fueled up.



There is a beautiful little picnic shelter and numerous picnic tables at the Ravensbourne National Park Day Use area, but you are not allowed to camp there. However, there is another little camping area at the Ravensbourne Sports Grounds about 500m down the road. I’ll spend the afternoon at the park though, it has a lot more ambiance and a good number of birds to watch.

Saw a goanna saunter by and dig out and eat some kind of below-ground dwelling insect. The first close up goanna I’ve seen, other than a few that scurried away very quickly.
