Killarney

The BNT camp area was not too shabby either, also good flow in the creek. But I very much enjoyed the spot that I discovered.

Today started with a very tough climb over the range, Teviot Falls. In my notes of 2004 I found the climb “not so bad at all”. Well, that was then, this time around it was a super invigorating push! I was totally drenched after the 4 km climb.

Nice coming down the other side though, although you don’t go down very far. Again, beautiful scenery. And soon I got off the main road to Mary Falls and onto the high clearance road through Condamine Gorge with all of its 14 creek crossings.

Soon after the 14th crossing I got to Killarney, checked into the caravan park, had shower, rinsed clothes, went into town to collect parcel at the post office, got some extra breakfast food, and dove into the pub for a little liquid lunch. After all, I’m going to miss that luxury since it is going to be 10 to 12 days to Ebor, and unless I detour somewhere along the way, there ain’t gonna be nothin’ other than freeze dried kibble and a cup of tea.

So tomorrow I’ll enter New South Wales, which is exciting, but I’m going to miss the marvellous Queensland Digital Topo Map that I’ve been relying on until now. The NSW version is nothing in comparison. Nothing. I’ll probably be out of mobile range for the next 10 days as well. We’ll see. I’ve often been amazed where I find coverage. Anyway, don’t be surprised if you don’t hear from me for a while!

    And, interesting “humps” of mountains!
I remember those little buggers of ants! Hope you can stay clear of them in the future!!!
