The paved road out of Killarney turned into a good gravel road that became a bit rougher when getting closer to the NSW border.

Just coming up to the rabbit fence and one final look back. Goodbye and farewell Queensland!

And welcome to New South Wales! (Funny there were no signs to that effect.)

And it does not look all that different on the south side of the border.

There was a surprising amount of uphill to deal with and by noon I was getting somewhat tired. But lo and behold, I came upon Aloomba Lavender Farm and their sign showed a steaming cup, indicating tea or coffee.

Had a lively visit with Terri, the owner, while she made me a cup of coffee and served me lavender scones with jam and cream. It was just what I needed. And from there it was only another 5k to Liston. I had meant to camp at Wylie Creek, 15 kms earlier, but the waterhole by the bridge was an unattractive looking scum puddle, so I continued on.
Liston has an attractive little picnic area with water, toilets and tables. It’s right across from the Community Hall where a group of people was busy decorating all afternoon. Because it’s Aussie Day coming up! Just two days from now. I’m sorry to miss the celebrations as I’m going to be somewhere between the Boonoo Boonoo River and the Timbarra River and I doubt I’ll find a group of people there who will be celebrating Australia Day in style.

But to hang around Liston for another two days is a bit much. So, so be it.
And, surprisingly good mobile reception in Liston. I’m continually amazed how well Telstra covers these little communities. And Optus no doubt as well. Come on BC, you should and can do better! Take this as an example.

Wow Robert you are doing well! Happy Australia Day from a damp, grey Somerset. Kathy and I are off to watch Bristol rugby play Exeter this afternoon then Kathy leaves Tuesday for snowy Moncton. It’s been a great holiday, trips to Ireland and Devon and York… all the best for the rest of your jaunt. Enjoy! Bernie x
