Walcha #3

Wednesday 13 Feb 2019

I forgot to mention yesterday that it started out at 6º (six!) at 6:00 in the morning. Today a more tolerable 11º, but I have this incredibly comfortable kitchen shelter at my disposal, one of the best I’ve come across, and of course it warms up quickly as soon as the sun appears over the horizon.

Another day in Walcha, but I received an email from Aussie Post that my parcel would be delivered today. As I walked into town for a coffee and muffin I stopped by the post office where they were just about to send it out for final delivery. So I now have two new derailleur hangers in my greedy little fingers. It’s almost noon and too late to head out today, so I’ll fix my bike this afternoon.

THANK YOU MALCOLM AND KENNY, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!

After fixing my bike and later in the afternoon Colin proposed we drive out to Aspley Falls, about 18k east of here. He and Carrol had been there earlier today and thought I would enjoy it too.

Well, spectacular, but as usual very hard to capture in a picture. Who would suspect that a mere 100m further downstream this would plunge into a serious gorge!

I’ll be having tea (dinner) at Colin and Carrol’s who are camped one site over.

Walcha has definitely not been the worst of places to be stuck for a couple of days. Very amiable actually.
