A lovely short day in the saddle, only 25 kms! Left Kabra at 6:00 and arrived in MtM at 8:30.

Giant Tree 🐸 at Kabra Hotel

flowering cactus, there were some patches further away from the road that were at least a meter in diameter

The last bit was a steep climb. When I got to MtM my shirt, short and gloves were soaked.

Started out with a visit to the railway museum. Mt Morgan had a unique rack and pinion locomotive and track to haul ore (or water) up that same 18% slope!

Then settled in at the Silver Wattle Caravan Park with a beautiful camp kitchen and a super spacious and clean ablutions block. I’ll likely stay an extra day, while keeping an eye at the weather. Cyclone Owen doesn’t appear to be as nasty as predicted but there may still be some serious rain coming and I’d rather wait that out in MtM than in the middle of nowhere.
Oh, and I forgot to mention there were some beautiful windfall mangoes halfway. I had two, whadda treat! And at the Silver Wattle caravan park they gave me 4 eggs upon check-in. Guess what I’ll be having for brekkie tomorrow! I don’t even have to use my own pot or pan since the camp kitchen is fully supplied.
Today, Sunday 16 it pretty well rained all day. I hope it will stop soon! If not, I’ll keep hanging out in Mt Morgan.
That’s one tough climb Rob. 17 per cent!!!!
I hope most of the rain misses you.
